CONTENT STRATEGY DOMAIN REDESIGN
THE ASK
The Content Strategy practice at SapientRazorfish has a number of sites, collections of content, and digital communities. We are a global practice with members from Chicago to Berlin to Germany to Gurgaon. Last year, we were long overdue for a restructuring and redesign of our domain's sites. The distinctions and purposes of each site was not clear; we tended to upload content somewhat at random and began to lose track of the channels’ identities. Ironically for a practice that specializes in clarity and quality of content, our own materials desperately needed a revamp. Our main sites were on Vox.com and Box.com. I took on the task of inventorying, auditing, and providing recommendations for all of our domain’s content worldwide.
THE OUTPUT
As a first step to reworking our internal sites, I inventoried all of our Content Strategy sites. I then surveyed the content strategists, asking questions about the usability and popularity of each site. While I collected data from the practice, I conducted a detailed audit of the sites, assessing the quality, distinction, and purpose of each section. Based on the Content Strategy survey and my own assessment, I created a granular audit of what to keep, edit, or remove from each site. I proposed removing a couple of sites altogether and creating two distinct sites: an internal collection on Box.com and an external collection on Vox.com. I proposed different structures, content, and nomenclature. I presented my findings and proposed high-level recommendations to the Content Strategy practice. After confirming approval from our domain directors, we made these amendments to the Content Strategy sites. Today, the sites exist as I presented them on Box and Vox.
